Dave Chappelle put his money where his very outspoken mouth is and bought a big piece of land near his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio — and his neighbors thank him for it.

Developers had planned to put housing on the 52-acre plot, but Chappelle has apparently outbid the developer, meaning the land will be preserved as is, according to the Daily mail.

“For me, it’s clear, the project is not progressing. Developers will not build on this land,” the village manager said. Joshua Salmeron told the publication.

In response, some local residents and merchants posted signs that read “Thank you, Dave! »

As reported in February, Chappelle took his grievances at a local town council meeting and, along with other residents, denounced the plan.

“Hi, I’m Dave Chappelle,” the comedian said after waiting for his turn to speak at the time. one-year company,” referring to developer Oberer, “when it is a $65 million a year business,” Dave said, referring to his company Iron Table Holdings.

“I can’t believe you would have me audition for you!” Chappelle lambasted the council members. “You look like clowns.”

Chappelle emphatically added, “I’m not bluffing. I’m going to take everything off the table!

The comedian is heavily invested in the community he lives in, and the plot of land on which housing would have been built adjoins his own property.
