Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Tap Raphael Siddiq as Executive Music Producer

Raphael Saadiq has joined Marvel Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur as executive music producer for the series. Essence Fest is happening right now, and the celebration of soul, jazz, and R&B also provided a ton of insight into the Disney series. New York plays a big part in the story, so musical styles from the boroughs will be incorporated. Of course, Saadiq is a world famous musician. He co-wrote the original music for The United States vs. Billie Holiday and helped produce hits for a number of artists. Fans of 90s R&B will be delighted to hear about her involvement after her success with Tony! Tony! Your! back in this decade. Disney Channel is really taking a new approach with Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

“Excited to share some Black Girl Magic with the debut of Lunella Lafayette, her family, Devil Dinosaur, Casey and The Beyonder,” Fishburne wrote to EO this week. “At Cinema Gypsy Productions and Disney Television Animation, we hope that Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil’s Dinosaur will be a family favorite and an inspiration to younger generations.”

“As an avid comic book fan, I’m thrilled to be involved with ‘Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,'” Fishburne previously said in a statement when the show was announced. “Disney Channel is the perfect platform to explore this pint-sized African-American superhero and I can’t wait for her audiences to enjoy the light-hearted adventures of Lunella and Devil Dinosaur.”

“Lunella doesn’t know she’s the smartest person on the planet, but audiences will soon know how cool Moon Girl is,” explained Cort Lane, Senior Vice President, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment. “His adventures with his giant pal, Devil Dinosaur, are filled with wonder and joy, and this historic partnership with Disney Television Animation and Cinema Gypsy Productions has proven to be just the right formula to bring them to television.”

Here’s Disney’s description of the show: “Based on Marvel’s bestselling comic books, ‘Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-year-old T-Rex. tons, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur to present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo work together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.”
