‘Sex and the City Star’ Kim Cattrall records music on Dauphin Street

MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) – “She was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever had in the studio,” said Keylan Laxton, general manager and chief engineer of Dauphin Street Sound.

Laxton and his team worked with actor Kim Cattrall this week to record a song for the movie “About My Father”. The film is currently being shot on the Gulf Coast, also starring Robert De Niro.

Cattrall is best known for her character as Samantha Jones in the popular TV series and movies “Sex and the City”.

“You can tell she’s a good actress,” Laxton said. Unlike the cheeky and outspoken “Samantha Jones”, Laxton found Cattrall to be “nicer, much more down to earth than her character, truly humble, a pleasure to work with.”

Regarding her ability to sing, “She has a beautiful voice, isn’t afraid to let it rip. She walked in there and really put her whole heart into it.

Laxton says that Dauphin Street Sound produced three audio tracks for a scene in the film.
