Sienna May Pompeo Ivery is “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Ellen Pompeo and the daughter of former record producer and writer Chris Ivery. Sienna May’s parents kept her arrival a secret for two months before announcing they had a second-born who was conceived and delivered through surrogacy.
Sienna May Pompeo Ivery is rarely seen in public. Her parents do their best to shield her and her siblings from the prying eyes of the media, as Pompeo and Ivery have dealt with fleeting whispers of infidelity in their marriage in the past.
Sienna May rarely appears on her parents’ social media accounts, but when she does, they often gush about her or her siblings’ growth and most precious moments. She also accompanies them with her brother and sister to large-scale events.
Sienna May’s birth went smoothly
Sienna May Pompeo Ivery was born in August 2014. She is her parents’ second child and her arrival was kept secret for two months until October 2, 2014, when his mother announced she and her husband had welcomed a second daughter.
Pompeo followed up with a tweet, thanking his followers for allowing his family the privacy needed for a new member to join their family for the first few weeks of their arrival. In one, 8-year-old Sienna May lies on a bed, wearing a brightly colored dress with various geometric patterns.
Sienna May also sported a floral print sleep mask with red silk lining. His mother also shared a photo of her husband and son enjoy a ride on a cream colored Vespa, wearing matching black and white casual outfits and black newsboy hats.
Pompeo didn’t leave out her firstborn, as she shared a photo of Sienna May’s sister enjoying a cup of tea, posing elegantly while she wore a black vest, a long skirt with colorful fruit patterns and a bracelet.
Sienna May’s Parents
According Parade, Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery met in 2003. During their first conversation, they found out that they hadn’t strayed too far from each other. While growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, the couple didn’t meet until adulthood at a California grocery store.
Sienna May’s parents started out as friends before their chemistry turned into romance. They had spent six months together platonically, after which Ivery saw his then friend in a different light one night. They got engaged in November 2006 and married a year later in November 2007.
The couple decided to keep their marriage secret and held the ceremony in New York, where former mayor Michael Bloomberg celebrated their union. Once they were declared husband and wife, they decided to have lunch at a restaurant called Lupa.
Pompeo once shared her husband’s discomfort when he saw her kissing other men on screen. Although the former record producer said he wasn’t particularly jealous of the men who played his love interests, he felt uncomfortable watching the fantasy romance and intimacy until he eventually avoids watching “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Ivery has been a record producer and writer in the music industry for 25 years. After leaving the music scene, he ventured into the world of fashion, reaching out to his favorite UK-based clothing brand, Sergio Tacchini.
Ivery struggled to find Sergio Tacchini in the US and decided to contact the brand to strike a deal for them to relaunch their Los Angeles branch. With Stefano Maroni, they launched a pop-up store and the STLA-collection.
Sienna is not the only child in the family
Nearly two years after their wedding, in September 2009, Ellen Pompeo and her husband welcomed his older sister, Stella Luna. Pompeo lived a reckless life with her husband where they could sleep, travel as much as they wanted and drink until the wee hours of the morning before having children.
Hence, the actress was ready to become Stella Luna’s mother as she felt she would lack for nothing. During her pregnancy with Luna, when her baby bump was more visible, she was still filming Season 6 of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Sienna May’s mother shared a video of her, where she expresses her frustration on Eli’s behavior. She was only five at the time but was upset that Eli “kept testing her” even when she was four. When Pompeo asked her second-born what to do about Sienna May’s brother, she quickly replied, “Separation.”
