The Ohio nightclub where Dimebag Darrell was killed on stage during a 2004 concert by his post-Pantera band, Damageplan, has finally been demolished, as a new video shows. The site cleared in Columbus, Ohio, will now be used to build affordable apartments.

It was December 8, 2004, when four people – including guitarist real name Darrell Abbott – were murdered by a gunman who opened fire while Damageplan was performing at the club, Alrosa Villa. Dime’s brother Pantera and Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul survived. The attacker was killed by an intervening police officer. Paul later died of heart failure in 2018. The club ceased operations in 2020.

The soon-to-be-site development, Sinclair Family Apartments, was announced by the city earlier this year. The $ 3.3 million project is a joint effort between the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and the Cleveland NRP Group to construct three four-story buildings with units ranging from one to four bedrooms.

“A lot of the new affordable housing offerings don’t have the three- and four-bedroom units,” Scott Scharlach, CMHA’s chief operating officer, told The Columbus Dispatch. “Good for housing large families. “

Villa Alrosa was a live music destination in Columbus for almost 50 years, hosting performances by rock and metal artists such as Slipknot, Korn, Quiet Riot, Buckcherry, Matthew Sweet, Foghat and many more.

The Abbott Brothers’ common grave is located in the home state of the late Rockers in Arlington, Texas.
