Thundercat at the Broad on July 21

Thundercat is set to headline the Broad Museum for a special outdoor performance on July 21st. Thundercat will be accompanied by Ginger Root to celebrate Takashi Murakami Walk on the tail of a rainbowthe artist’s first solo exhibition at the Broad Museum.

Two-time Grammy Award-winning Thundercat will perform a rare live set on the Broad Museum’s outdoor stage, showcasing their genre-defying music. Thundercat is a self-proclaimed Japanophile, he first rose to prominence as a member of the thrash metal band Suicidal Tendencies. The Los Angeles singer-songwriter has released four solo studio albums and has worked with successful artists such as Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and many more.

Ginger Root will open the night with a special performance combining influences from Japanese City Pop, Stax and Philly Soul. After the performances, the full museum will open, allowing guests to stroll through the first-floor galleries and view Takashi Murakami’s first solo exhibition. The exhibition includes all of Murakami’s works from The Broad collection and key loans, sculptures, paintings, immersive installations and more.
