Demand has been so high for tickets to see pop singing sensation Gary Barlow perform in Cornwall that an extra date has been added.
The Take That singer, who also performs solo, announced earlier this week that he would be coming to the Hall for Corwnall in Truro in September, as part of his A Different Stage tour.
General tickets went on sale today, having previously been booked first, and demand was described as “exceptional”.
The first two days of Tuesday September 27 and Wednesday September 28 had previously been extended to include Wednesday September 29, but now Saturday October 1 at 7:30 p.m. has also been added to the lineup.
Announcing the extra date via email at midday today (Friday), Hall for Cornwall said: “We have been blown away by the tremendous demand for these shows at Hall for Cornwall. Gary has now decided to put out an extra show!
“If you haven’t already, now is your chance to grab tickets to see one of Britain’s most celebrated songwriters and record producers.”
Tickets for the four shows are already “very limited”. They are available for reservation online or via the ticket office, open until 4 p.m.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult and there is a maximum of four tickets per customer. Tickets are not transferable and may not be sold, resold or offered for sale directly by customers.
Acclaimed singer, songwriter, composer and producer Gary Barlow today announced new Truro shows for A Different Stage, his one-man theatrical show telling his story, in his own words.
Julien Boast, CEO and Creative Director of Hall for Cornwall, which underwent a three-year, multi-million dollar transformation before reopening last October, said: “It’s an incredible blow for us. We’ve always said that our brand new Cornwall Playhouse auditorium would see us attract even bigger shows, and they don’t come much bigger than Gary Barlow. We are thrilled and delighted.”
Created by Gary and his longtime friend and collaborator Tim Firth, A Different Stage sees Gary recount his life’s journey alongside music from his incredible discography. In a project unlike anything he’s ever done before, Gary will take the audience behind the curtain, with nothing forbidden in this special performance.
Gary said, “Now I’ve done shows where it was just me and a keyboard. I’ve done shows where I sit and talk to people. I’ve done shows where I’ve played as part of a band. But this one, well, it’s like all of those, but none of them. When I come out this time, it will be a very different stage.
Gary Barlow is one of Britain’s most celebrated songwriters and record producers. As a member of Take That, he won eight BRIT Awards and sold over 45 million records. Apart from his accomplishments with Take That, he has also co-written and produced music for other high profile artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John and Robbie Williams.
In recent years, Gary has also dabbled in the world of theatre, composing the score for the hit production of ‘Finding Neverland’; working alongside Tim Firth on ‘Calendar Girls The Musical’; and collaborating with Tim and his bandmates Take That on “The Band,” a record-breaking musical currently being made into a feature film.
