LA Windhoek Spring Fiesta (All White Edition), which won the award for Best Music Event of the Year at the Namibia Annual Music Awards (Namas), will celebrate Namibian culture and music for the 10th time this year.
The event, organized and initiated by Doctatainment, has taken place annually at different venues on the outskirts of Windhoek, such as Umti Lodge and The Hills.
One of its founding members, John Cloete, said the anniversary celebration is scheduled for October 30, with the location to be announced at a later stage.
The Windhoek Spring Fiesta is 100% local, giving the local entertainment industry much needed exposure, he says.
“At Doctatainment, we strongly believe in local talent and youth, without being adopted by international artists to contribute to our programming. We have tried to give local content and entertainment the best possible platform over the past few years, â€said Cloete.
“We took it upon ourselves to create this platform to celebrate Namibian culture and music and give our local artists and DJs the recognition they deserve. We also need to understand that being a musician, DJ or music producer is not just a hobby, but a profession. So the industry must be respected as such, â€he says.
He says vendors will showcase and sell their products at different booths during the event to promote cultural diversity.
“In this way, we are also giving back to our community by allowing our fellow businessmen and women to be a part of this event. “
Cloete says funding and sponsorship for the event has been a major challenge in recent years, and the Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated the problem.
“But we’re fortunate to have worked with a few companies for quite some time now, and we’ve built a strong relationship with them. We have partnered with three companies that share the same passion, vision and target market as Doctatainment, which makes our partnership so special, â€said Cloete.
“We firmly believe in providing an experience for every festival goer, which means that if you attend our events, we make sure you leave with a memorable experience. So we’ll continue to build on that and make sure to sell an experience that will attract more investors and create more jobs.
Local musician Gazza has been headlining the event for a few years.
