Update: Local rapper and producer Catfish Walkin ‘released his debut album earlier this year and recently teamed up with Bone Thugs rapper Layzie Bone to direct a music video for their collaboration, “Uplifting.”
“I wanted to write something uplifting but also told a little bit about my journey in music,” Catfish Walkin ‘said in an email exchange. “At the end of the day the message is to never give up on your dreams and whatever it is, just hold your head up and keep moving forward. The video was basically meant to be a wellness video just showing where it all went. start.”
Catfish Walkin ‘says the message for finding a way through tough times comes from the song’s lyrics.
“As Clevelanders we’ve all struggled, and sometimes it’s easier to give up than to keep pushing so to speak,” he says. “So I wanted to write something that would inspire listeners and do a little uplifting in these strange times we live in.”
Original message 07/14/21: Local rapper and producer Catfish Walkin ‘released his debut album, Back from the dead, earlier this year, and he caught the eye of Cleveland’s Bone Thugs N Harmony, who hired him to accompany him on his year-long tour which begins July 30.
There’s no Cleveland date yet, but it’s likely Bone Thugs and Catfish Walkin ‘will add a northeast Ohio look to the trek.
Additionally, Catfish Walkin ‘will also be releasing a new song featuring Bone Thugs’ Layzie Bone later this month.
Back from the dead is currently available worldwide on all distribution sites.
