So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week, we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie” and talk about what’s coming out of metal. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We update a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

THE CATS – ‘I’VE BEEN drunk in every pub in Brisbane’
“Brisbane is a bit warmer than the rest of the country,” says Eamon Sandwith of the Cats, who moved to Brisbane a year ago, “so it’s one of those places where it’s more acceptable to start drinking earlier. I think there would be around 900 pubs you should visit, and I’ve visited quite a few of them, but if you went to all of them it would be hard even to remember which ones you would have been, and which ones you hadn’t. hadn’t, especially if you were fucking pissed off. The new Cats album, Getting fuckedis out August 19 via Bargain Bin Records.

WARMDUSCHER – “GREASIN’ UP JESUS” (YARD ACT WOOZY REMIX)
UK band Warmduscher have announced a remix EP featuring tracks from this year At the access point reworked by Yard Act, Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, Red Axes and GLOK (aka Andy Bell of Ride). “There’s nothing better for the soul than taking what’s yours, giving it to your friends, and letting them chew it up and spit it in your face,” says Warmduscher’s Clams. “Something different, something stranger, something better, bolder or even more beautiful!” Ladies and gentlemen, we have friends in high places, and those friends have chewed us up perfectly. We hope you enjoy more of the same, only much more different, Warmduscher remixes!! They shared the “woozy” remix of Yard Act’s “Greasin’ Up Jesus” and Yard Act says Warmduscher “returned the favor,” so stay tuned for that.

SPECIAL INTEREST – “FOLLOW ME” (AMANDA LEAR COVER)
New Orleans band Special Interest release their first single for Rough Trade this week and the B-side is a cover of German model/singer Amanda Lear’s 1978 European disco hit, “Follow Me”, which is respectful while giving it its own gritty twist.

JESCA HOOP – “SIOUX FALLS”
Jesca Hoop’s new album Order of the Roman comes out in September, and the latest single is the orchestrated “Sioux Falls”. “Deeper into the cyclone of psychosis as paranoia hits,” Jesca writes. “All Preppers double their supplies and double their guns. America is the land of freedom. The vernacular is too familiar, like the verses I learned in Bible study, because the term” more great good” takes the form of a dog whistle for the death spiral. Meanwhile, here, we just look after each other while we deal with the harsh realities of life.

SPITE HOUSE – “HOPE”
Montreal hardcore band Spite House will release their self-titled debut album on August 26 via New Morality Zine, and it will include new single “Hope”, a gritty but anthemic song that scratches a Shed-era Title Fight type itch.

FLY ANAKIN & EWONEE – MIRRORS_EPISODE.2
Underground rapper Richmond Fly Anakin has already released his excellent new album Franc this year, and now he remains prolific with a new five-song EP, mirrors_episode.2. It was entirely produced by like-minded artist ewonee and it is the sequel to their 2014 EP mirrors_episode.1.

HOLD TO YOUR ARMS – “HUSH”
Orange County hardcore band Stick To Your Guns showed off their more melodic side on recent single “Weapon,” but “Hush” finds them at their hardest and most caustic. This is the second taste of the upcoming LP Spectrumwhich you can collect on “half black, half blood red” vinyl, limited to 300 copies and available exclusively in our stores.

AARON STAUFFER (SEWEED) – “OILS AND CLAY”
Seaweed frontman Aaron Stauffer has released a new solo song, and this one features Milemark guitarist (and Aaron’s Ghost Work bandmate) Sean Husick handling all the instruments. It’s a healthy dose of classic 90s-style indie rock.

MEWN – “THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE”
Manchester band Mewn have announced a new EP, such as this, which will be released on September 23 via Simonie Records, and shared a new single, “There Is No Substitute”. “The first part of the song is a meditation on how our worlds and lives are shaped and influenced by others, the costs and benefits of this,” frontman Daniel Bluer writes. “The emotional intensity and urgency increases a lot in part two. There’s a feeling that I very much identify with, the building of heightened emotions and tensions and the race towards that catharsis or release by any means possible. I hope the ending of the song achieves that.”

HOLY WAVE – “CHAPARRAL”
Austin’s Holy Wave, a new 7″ via Suicide Squeeze’s series of Pinks and Purples singles. With a prominent vibraphone, there’s a little Stereolab on “Chaparral.”

HER & HIM – “DON’T WORRY BABY” (BEACH BOYS COVER)
He and she have shared a fourth single from their upcoming Brian Wilson tribute album, their rendition of “Don’t Worry Baby.” “‘Don’t Worry Baby’ is one of the greatest songs of all time,” say Zooey Deschanel and Mr. Ward. “As with all the other songs on our tribute album, we had no interest in copying the original production – our version started by stripping the song down to vocals and low-tuned acoustic guitar and building from there. The inspiration for our release comes from a lot of different places, but the most important would be some of the guitar ideas of Chet Atkins, the drum ideas of Mick Fleetwood and the synth inventions of Dave Smith (RIP).

ALHAJI WAZIRI OSHOMAH – “JEALOUSY”
Luaka Bop’s World Spirituality Classics series continues with The Muslim Highlife of Alhaji Waziri Oshomah which will be released on September 23 and includes songs recorded by Waziri in the 70s and 80s. “When we were playing, we didn’t have professional amplifiers,” Waziri says today. “We used a locally built amp that was powered by regular torch batteries.” His music has an energy of its own.

Australian experimental guitarist Oren Ambarchi is back with a new album Box which will be released on September 30 via Drag City. Discover now the delicate and complex first section of the album.

LET’S WHISPER – “THE THING THAT DEFINES YOU”
Led by Colin & Dana of The Smittens, Let’s Whisper makes smooth, twee indiepop of the most jangly variety. Their new album, Intermediate times, stars Emma Kupa (Mammoth Penguins/Standard Fare) and Jeff Baron (The Essex Green/Ladybug Transistor) and will be released on August 26 via Fika Recordings. SHOW ME THE BODY – “LAOSE TALK”
Show Me The Body hosted and headlined the first-ever CORPUS-produced In Broad Daylight Festival at the Knockdown Center in Queens yesterday (7/10), and during their set they dropped a new song called “Loose Talk”, which now been officially released. Learn more here.
