Main international collaborations of BTS, from Coldplay to Ed Sheeran and Megan Thee Stallion

The collaboration between South Korean boy band BTS and British group Coldplay has created a lot of buzz, and for all the right reasons. The wait is finally over since the track My Universe is released today, September 24. The septet consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, J-Hope, V and Jungkook debuted in 2013 and since then they have enjoyed a meteoric rise regardless. the struggles and discriminations launched in their path. And in those 8 years, the K-pop group has done everything from speaking and performing at the UN to being nominated for a Grammy. They have also found the love of several other global icons as they have expressed their wish to join this phenomenal group.

So, as fans of the ARMYs and Coldplay everywhere wait for the track to end, we take a quick look at all of BTS’s previous international collaborations.

Steve aoki

American DJ and record producer Steve Aoki is a longtime collaborator with Bangtan Sonyeondan. In 2017, he produced a remix of BTS’s song Mic Drop with rapper Desiigner. Steve’s 2018 song Waste it on Me from his album Neon Future III featured three Bangtan Boys members – RM, Jimin and Jungkook. This song also marked BTS’s first English single. Steve was also featured in BTS’s The Truth Untold from their Love Yourself: Answer album compilation.

Ed sheeran

In an interview, V or Kim Taehyung said that Ed Sheeran was BTS’s best friend. So what do we get when best friends come together to do what they do best? Two bouncy tracks – Make It Right and Permission to Dance.

Make It Right is a track from BTS’s 2019 album Map of the Soul: Persona. Interestingly, the septet has yet to meet the Shape of You singer!

Halsey

In the same interview, Jung Hoseok or J-Hope added that Halsey is their best friend. It’s no secret that BTS and Halsey share a splendid relationship with each other. Rapper Suga had featured on her album Manic for SUGA’s Interlude, and she was seen in BTS’s 2019 song Boy With Luv from their album Map Of The Soul: Persona. Unlike Ed, they have met several times and also exchanged gifts as a token of their friendship.

Megan you stallion

BTS and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up for the remix of BTS’s song Butter. They recently met while the group was in the United States to give a speech and performance at the United Nations.

Chain smokers

The track Best of Me marked the collaboration between Chainsmokers and BTS. The upbeat and energetic tone has the perfect combination of the two groups with the remarkable lyrics of BTS and the funky beats of Chainsmokers.

Lauv

American singer-songwriter Lauv was featured in the Make It Right reboot. The single was co-written by Ed Sheeran.

Sia

BTS’s famous track ON from their album Map Of The Soul: 7 featured Chandelier singer Sia. Their collaboration track was only available in the digital version of the album.

Lil Nas X

The live performance of Old Town Road marked the K-pop group’s first Grammy performance and collaboration with Lil Nas X. A remix of the song was subsequently released, titled Seoul Town Road, starring RM.

MNEK

British singer MNEK wrote Paradise for the septet’s Love Yourself album. In an interview, the singer revealed that the collaboration happened at a time when he broke up with his loved one. He had written a song called Mouth which became Paradise. The lyrics were changed but MNEK loved the result.

Nicki Minaj

The second iteration of BTS’s super energetic track Idol featured popular singer Nicki Minaj who added her own spice to the track.

Charlie xcx

For their mobile game BTS World, Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook released a Dream Glow song that English singer Charli XCX saved. She had said in an old interview that she was in Seoul in 2017 when she met the septet and the idea for a collaboration was born.

Apart from that, rapper RM has collaborated with several international artists, including the Fallout Boys, rapper Wale, Korean-American rapper Tiger JK and English electro music duo Honne. Suga also collaborated with MAX for the song Blueberry Eyes. He was featured in South Korean singer IU’s song Eight.

J-Hope, who previously declared his love for Webstar and Young B’s song Chicken Noodle Soup, released his version with Latino singer Becky G.
