The trio of Andy Dickson (guitar / vocals), bassist Tony Waine and drummer Josh Sorenson released their fifth studio album Suburbs in June and have now announced their second tour of this year, which will take place across the country in November. Celebrating 41 years together as a band (that’s a year older than even Canterbury legends The Bats), The Narcs ruled the New Zealand singles charts in the 80s with such massive anthems that went viral. echoed through the ages as ‘heart and soul‘ and ‘Diamonds and China‘. Sharing the stage with Icehouse at Tāmaki’s Aotea Center just before the global pandemic ruined everyone’s concert plans, The Narcs recently gifted fans with a historically crucial, freshly remastered archive of their video releases on YouTube and launched a crystal new release of ‘Heart and Soul’ in 2020 (featured on the new record). It will explode! The Narcs will perform some of their classic early hits like Heart and Soul, Diamonds on China, Over My Head, No Turning Back, Stay Away, Look The Other Way as well as songs from the new album Outskirts.
2022 has been busy for the group. They released their fifth album Outskirts and played to sold-out crowds around Aotearoa to celebrate. The new album included 5 singles: Not The Man, Always Stay, I Don’t Want To Go To Work Today, Not Over & Summerhill Stone plus Heart and Soul 2020, a new remake of the 1984 hit and the song RIANZ from the ‘year. The band also toured with The Jon Stevens Band on their recent New Zealand tour.
Since their raucous debut in Christchurch in 1981, the Narcs have won numerous music and songwriting awards, signed to major labels and released hit singles, seen their music used in TV commercials, box office tours closed and supported international artists such as Queen, Elton John, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, Split Enz and Icehouse.
