- Grammy-nominated reality TV judge and pop star Nicole Scherzinger, who has appeared in productions of Wright State University’s “Chicago” and “Show Boat,” among others, has been cast as Grace, the Secretary of Daddy Warbucks, on the Dec. 2 NBC TV show of “Annie Live!” She joins Harry Connick, Jr. as Daddy Warbucks and Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan. 2017 WSU Laureate Alumna of the Year Award, Scherzinger notably received an Olivier Award nomination for his portrayal of Grizabella in the 2014 production of “Cats” in London’s West End.
- Tyrell Riggins, who graduated from Wright State University in 2015 with a BA in Theater Studies, is the founder and artistic director of the Trinity Theater Company, a youth performing arts and community theater organization in Columbus. The company’s next season would include the musical “All Together Now” in the fall, and a children’s play, black history production and “Godspell” next summer. He currently works at Cassady Elementary School in Columbus, where he founded a drama club. His WSU credits included “Fences”, “Peter Pan”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Les Misérables”.
Judy McCormick of Kettering chose the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company as the recipient of her special gift. “With my donation of $ 2,000, I hope to raise awareness and renew support for DCDC, as well as reclaim it as one of the true gems of our city,” said McCormick. CONTRIBUTED

DCDC PRESENTS “TAKE IT IN THE STREETS”
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company opens its 2021-2022 season next weekend with “Taking It to the Streets”.
Scheduled for Sunday, August 29 at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Levitt Pavilion, 134 S. Main St., the free, community-friendly concert is described as “the summer energy of a street party meets the innovation of a site specific performance ”. An array of new routines will celebrate “black joy and world culture”.
Special musical guests, activities and food trucks will also be in the spotlight.
